This photo represents a whole lot of emotions, though it appears that anger or annoyance is what is being expressed here.
When this photo was taken, David was in the hospital for 4th time in less than three years. I was scared. I was tired. I was wondering if this was going to be the story of the rest of our lives, knowing the answer to that question was “yes”, and not wanting to hear it or face it.
I was/am not ready for where this is headed in our lives.
What you see in that photo is a woman that just wants to fight the world and all the threats it brings with it AND a little girl that just wants to curl up into a ball in a corner somewhere with her teddy and fall fast asleep, dreaming away the reality of 200-mile days and nurses and doctors and beeping machines and bodies that are leaving me, one IV at a time.

Thank you, Linda. 🙂 Hopefully, our guys will have a nice long break from hospital visits. I don’t feel lovely or beautiful. My hair is improving, thanks to the cold water washings. Thank you. 🙂

Suzanne, I started to come by last night, but ran short on time with every thing going on yesterday. Anywho, I can’t imagine what you had to deal with David, but I could see in DH’s eyes the same concerns three years ago when I was sick with diverticulitis which required surgery. I thought it was experiencing a bad Crohn’s flareup. My body was riddled with infection and I spent two weeks in the hospital and then months to recover. God had His hands on me then just as He had His hands on David. A stroke (is that what put him in the hospital to begin with?) is serious business. I’m glad we live in the modern medicine age where doctors are equipped to deal with, to catch early, and even prevent altogether such ailments. I pray you guys will be hospital-free for years to come with better than usual health. Thanks for sharing a poignant post and picture.

Thank you, Cathy. I am sorry that you were so sick, too! Has this diverticulitis caused you anymore problems? I pray not.
A stroke is what put David in the hospital this past pay. He had the first one on May 26 and then two more on May 28. The other hospital visits in November/December 2012, January 2013, October 2013, and May 2015 were all related to the diabetic ulcers on his feet. The one in November 2012, he almost died. The big toe was necrotic and had to be amputated as emergency surgery. The rest are recurring issues with an ulcer on the other foot. Somehow we made it through 2014 with no hospital stays and I was so grateful for that! Thank you for the prayers. You’re in ours, too. 🙂
