Friendly Fill-Ins

This is a fun meme co-hosted by 15 and Meowing and Four-Legged Furballs. Be sure to visit and join in the fun!

New Friday_Fill-In_BadgeHere are the fill-ins:

  1. Being _______________ is _____________________.
  2. If ___________________ were worth money, then I would be rich.
  3. I am proud of _________.
  4. If I could time travel, I would visit the year _________.

Here are my responses:

Being short is sometimes very frustrating. I feel like such a toddler having to ask people to reach things for me at the store. I haven’t yet learned to whistle my way through it like the guys pictured above.

If sneezes were worth money, then I would be rich. If potty trips were, then I would be even richer!

I am proud of our children and their ability to overcome adversity. I am proud of David and how he fought his way back from three strokes. He refused to let the strokes win. We’ve gone two years now stroke-free!

If I could time travel, I would visit the years that my ancestors first crossed the ocean to get to this land that wasn’t yet America. I would ask them what made them choose to leave their home countries to journey to this Great Unknown.

Guess what, folks! Ellen’s new book, Prancie’s Prayer, is available now on Amazon. Check it out!

Have a blessed weekend, y’all!

  1. You are not short. You are just travel sized for my convenience. I love you, my Zing!

  2. Haha! I was once short but grew many inches taller after I left high school. God made us with different heights for a reason and we shouldn’t carp about it but be thankful about it. It may take some time to because at first I didn’t wanted to get any taller and I felt sad lol that I had gotten taller and it took me some time to accept my height which I’m soooooooooo loving right now lol
    Blessings, peace and love! ❤

P.S I’m gonna check out that book and read it! 🙂 thanks for sharing 😉

    • How cool that you had a growth spurt after high school. I had one in my early 30s and it was 6 weeks of incredible pain. I don’t know what caused it, but for ones in my life, I was finally reached 5 feet. I am back down to 4’10” or less now. Overall, I am okay with being short at this point. It is just frustrating and sometimes embarrassing to ask for assistance. Sometimes when I ask people for help, I have to endure hurtful comments about my height. They think they are being funny, but it isn’t at all received that way.

We all need to learn to be happy with how He made us. My grandma, also a short woman, had a very good attitude about it. One of my aunts (also a short woman, though taller than me and Grandma) was teasing me for being short. Grandma told her that I was just fine the way God made me. 🙂

I hope that you enjoy the book. Have a blessed weekend!

    I chose sneezes too!

  4. Well, I am short as well, and it can be so annoying, especially when looking for trousers. My husband doesn’t mind, though. Going back to the time your ancestors came to the US would be very interesting, I would like to hear the story those people had to tell.

    • You’re right about that! Clothes shopping is such a pain. It seems everything is made for tall, very skinny people, and I am not either one. Plus, I have the added complication of scoliosis, so it is just really hard to find things that will fit properly. I’ve dealt with the length of pants/trousers by buying capris instead and that works out ok for me. That only fixes the length issue. The waistband is a whole other story, thanks to the curvature of my spine.
I think it would be wonderful to know their stories. I’m uncovering the stories of some of my ancestors, but some are still very much a mystery to me. One story I have uncovered was about my 2nd great-grandparents. Her daddy didn’t want her to marry her love. He absolutely forbade it. They got married anyway, on a boat, in the middle of a lake. I guess they figured her daddy’s rifle/shotgun could reach them that far out. 🙂

Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. And thank you for the shout out on my book. I am tall and always wished I was short, I wish we could trade for a day. I do get asked by a lot of people at Walmart to get things off high shelves 🙂 That is great news that Dave has been 2 years without a stroke. I hope you have a nice weekend! XO

    • You’re welcome, Ellen, and thank you, too.
I think it would be fun to be able to trade for a day, kind of like a Freaky Friday. I’m glad you’re able to help the short folks like me. 🙂 I have trouble getting to some of the things on the bottom shelf, too, because of my knees. The middle shelves are where I wish all my needed products were located. No such luck haha.
Thanks! Here’s to another 2 years, and another, and another. 🙂
I hope that you have a wonderful, blessed weekend, too.

Hope y’all aren’t inundated with too much rain. They say we may get a bit of it all the way up here.

    • Thanks, Barbara. I always enjoy your comments and posts, too. 🙂
We’re getting rain most every day over the last week or so and some days thunder and lightning along with it. Our daughter told us earlier that we were having flash flood warnings, but so far, so good here at our house.

I hope it doesn’t get too bad up your way either!

My mama and David’s aunt are in South Carolina, bracing for the rest of Florence. Mama was fine when David talked to her. His aunt is really worried. She’s more toward the center of the state that my mama is. We have friends on the coast of SC and they were just dealing with wind when we last heard from them. Thanks for any prayers you send up for the SC folks.
Have a blessed night and a wonderful weekend. ❤

Thank you for joining in on the Friendly Fill-Ins! I think my mom would agree with you 100% on #1 and #2. You are right to be proud of your family. Though I’ve never met you, I can tell you are all strong, wonderful people. Have a beautiful weekend!

    • You’re welcome and thank you, too. What a sweet thing to say. I appreciate your kind comment very much.
I’m sorry that your mama has some of the same battles that I have. I guess we eventually get used to them, but, boy, can they be a pain!
      Have a blessed weekend. 🙂

  11. Hadn’t thought about potty trips as an answer, and i’m with you, being short is mostly inconvenient.

    • It sure is and people can be so rude about it. While I’m learning to be happy with how Heavenly Father made me, it is incredibly difficult to be happy with the people that make rude comments about my height. Do people tease you about it, too?
      Have a blessed weekend. 🙂
