Friendly Fill-Ins

This is a fun meme co-hosted by 15 and Meowing and Four-Legged Furballs. Be sure to visit and join in the fun!

New Friday_Fill-In_BadgeHere are the fill-ins:

  1. When it is hot, I _____________________.
  2. I am looking forward to _________ this month.
  3. The theme song of my life would be _________.
  4. There is no such thing as _________.

Here are my responses:

When it is hot, I feel like I am melting. But, thanks to menopause, I also have really cold cold flashes. So, I get to be cool for a few minutes each day.

I am looking forward to something really big this month. I have waited for years for this. Drum roll, please!

My little sister, the youngest of my parents’ children, will turn 50! Being the good big sister that I am, I am going to make sure she doesn’t forget this one. Haha

The theme song of my life…Hmm, I am going to have to ponder this one a bit. One thing’s for sure, it wouldn’t be My Way. This version of Elvis singing brings tears to my eyes. It was recorded the year that he died.

Our kids turned us on to the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic series. I think one of the songs performed by Twilight Sparkle says a lot about how I’ve felt over the course of my life. Well, except for the whole princess bit. I’ve never felt like a princess.

There is no such thing as a life without sorrow and grief. It touches all of our lives, to some degree, at some point.

We need to get over this whole “be over it in two weeks” mindset. It takes longer than two weeks for a broken leg to heal, so why shouldn’t a broken heart take longer? If you have lost someone you love, and you truly loved them, you will be living with this loss for the rest of your life. Being expected to be over it in two weeks is a bunch of hooey.

Our daughter Maggie has a new blog for her furbaby Martha. You can find it at: Martha’s Daily Mews.

Have a blessed weekend, y’all!

  2. Your choice of graphics, as always is outstanding. Number and four is absolutely right. It is a shame some self-appointed experts have said two weeks and even more of a shame that most of the other, “Experts” follow like lemmings. What makes two weeks the magic number?

    I love you, my Zing!

Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I wish I had a cold flash once a day, all I get is the hot ones. Very true about grief, it takes a long time to recover from a loss and most don’t truly recover, they just find a way to carry on. My Little Pony is cute, I need to get my great-niece into that, I am getting sick of Peppa the Pig. Have a great weekend! XO

    • Thanks, Ellen. I always enjoy the fill-ins. 🙂

Maybe Mother Nature will throw you a cold flash in there soon. I started out with just the hot ones and boy were they awful! My cold flashes, thankfully, are colder than my hot flashes are hot.
I agree with what you’ve said, we find a way to carry on, to get through it. I don’t think we ever get over it. How can we, if we truly loved the person? There is always a part of them in our heart.
I’ve never heard of Peppa the Pig. I hope that your little great-niece will enjoy the ponies. There are lots of toys out there for the series, too. We have a houseful of little plastic ponies and pony plushies. The kids have pony t-shirts, too. AND battles over who is the best pony. haha
      Have a blessed weekend. 🙂

I love all your answers and I’m sure your sister will have a wonderful 50th. I love your answer to #4. This is ever so true. Each person approaches this differently. We need to know that and respect it.

Have a fabulous day and weekend. ♥

    • Thanks, Sandee. 🙂 My sister will definitely have a memorable birthday…I’m going to keep reminding her of it. haha
Thank you. Yes, respect and understanding are very important during such an emotional time. Unfortunately, many are not equipped to face someone else’s grief and end up making things worse.

      I hope you’ve had a great day and have a blessed weekend. 🙂 ❤

Thank you for joining in on the Friendly Fill-Ins! Every time summer rolls around, I feel like the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz. “I’m melting! I’m melting!” Sadly, you are so right about grief. It is part of life, though, and we all certainly need sufficient time to cope with it when it hits us. Wishing you a beautiful day! And happy birthday to your sister!

    • Thank you, Lorianne. I always enjoy the fill-ins. I feel the same way about the heat. I’d almost rather have a house fall on me than to melt in this heat. haha

Grief is a part of life and is a part of love. We can’t have one without the other entering in at some point. Too many people think that feeling needs to be over and done right away. I think we never get over it; we just somehow find a way through it. It very much becomes a part of who we are.

I hope that you’ve had a beautiful day, too, thank you. Thank you also for the birthday wishes for my sister. Have a blessed weekend. 🙂

I like the little ponies and stories they tell and songs they sing. 🙂
Have fun celebrating the big 5-0 with your sister this month!
Wishing you a lovely weekend – try to stay cool and don’t melt! ❤

    • I think the ponies are great. I don’t remember much about the older series, from when our kids were little. But, this newer series, Friendship is Magic, is great. The little dragon Spike is my favorite character. 🙂

Oh I am going to enjoy my sister’s birthday more than I’ve ever enjoyed my own. My mama’s “baby” is going to be 50. haha I won’t get to be in South Carolina with her, but I will send her daily reminders via email/text/Messenger. She’ll be ready to slap me before its all said and done. haha

Thanks, Barbara. I hope you have a blessed and cool weekend, and no melting either. 🙂 ❤
