Prayers, Please

We just found out that my Aunt Judy, Mama’s youngest sister, passed away last night from pneumonia. Please pray for my mama and her remaining siblings, but most of all, Aunt Judy’s five sons and their families, as well as her former and current husbands.

Thank you. Have a blessed day.

I’m so sorry to hear about your family’s loss and will certainly put those who loved her in my prayers…. Change is a fact of life, but rarely easy to get used to.

    • Thank you, Jeanne. We appreciate the prayers very much. Out of 7 children that my grandma gave birth to, there are 4 left now. The first one died as a toddler of pneumonia. This child was named Margaret and was born between my mama and Aunt Judy. The second died after retiring from the Army. He and his second wife were murdered in 1977. Now, Aunt Judy.

No, it isn’t easy to get used to. We just have to find a way through these hard parts of life. Thanks again. Have a blessed day.

My father was one of 6 but I only had one cousin – he died about 10 years ago… all my dad’s brothers and sisters are already gone. In point of fact, my father died in the 80s, so I wonder how sturdy his genes are.

        • How old was your father when he died? Did your father and his siblings all die of the same thing? How sad they all went so early. Did his parents go early on, too?

You had only one cousin, period, or only one that survived to adulthood? Wow, I can’t imagine growing up with only 1 cousin. On my daddy’s side, I had 4 first cousins. I had nearly 30 first cousins on my mama’s side. I have no clue how many children and grandchildren there are between all of us at this point.

LOL, he didn’t die young – he didn’t marry until he was 50.
As per the reason that I have so few cousins on that side, I suspect the RH negative issue made a huge problem with my lack of cousins on his side – dad was RH negative, so his side of the family nearly died out – only one cousin on his side, 3 on my mom’s.

          • So, when you said he died in the 80s, you were meaning his age, not the decade? I wasn’t sure.

It is unfortunate that the RH negative issue caused such problems for your family. My grandma was O-. I am not sure what my mama is(she isn’t sure either), but I am O+ and my little sister is O-. David is A+, so we didn’t have an issue with our babies. I think my sister had to have a shot while having her babies. I don’t know how it was dealt with for my mama and grandma.

We are blessed to live in a time where there are things that can be done to hopefully avoid problems with the whole +/- issue.

Ok, so Snoopy Suz here…why’d he wait so long to get married?

As per why he waited so long to marry, I don’t read minds, but I know for a fact that my mother’s first love/finance died, so I always suspected she ‘settled’ for a survivor.
As per the +/- Rh issue, I have a theory that the blood type comes from the mother and the Rh comes from the father – this is not based on science, just on personal experience. My mom was O+, Dad was AB- / I’m O- , my husband is B+, both our kids are O+.

          • It is an unfortunate thought that your mama “settled”. My parents married because they thought they were pregnant (with me), so it was a “have to”.

That is an interesting theory regarding blood types. David is A+, I’m O+, our boys are A+, and our girls are O+. I think blood types make for an interesting study.

            Have a blessed weekend. 🙂

You’re right, blood type would make for an interesting scientific study. I wonder if anyone has already done one…. After hearing about your kids, I also wonder if girls are more likely to be O….

          • Both are very good questions and sound like a fun evening spent with the Google brain. 🙂 Have a blessed evening, Jeanne.
