Friendly Fill-Ins

This is a fun meme co-hosted by 15 and Meowing and McGuffy’s Reader. Be sure to visit and join in the fun!

Friday_Fill-In_BadgeHere are the fill-ins:

1. The Winter Olympics _____.
2. I think the most romantic movie (or book) is _____.
3. Recently, I had an odd experience when _____.
4. I believe that love _____.

Here are my responses:

The Winter Olympics isn’t something that I will be watching, but of the sports involved, figure skating is my favorite. I wish that I could do that!

The most romantic movie or book is a difficult one for me. I don’t really get into romance movies or books. So, I took a different perspective on the word “romantic”.

Merriam-Webster has this as one of the definitions of “romantic”:

4 a : marked by the imaginative or emotional appeal of what is heroic, adventurous, remote, mysterious, or idealized

With that definition in mind, I chose two of my favorite Christmas holiday movies: It’s a Wonderful Life and Miracle on 34th Street. Both meet the definition above AND include the more traditional view of romance, with the lead characters being either engaged or married by the end of the movies.

I can’t really think of an “odd” experience lately, other than one that was incredibly embarrassing. I have been visited (walked in on) in the bathroom a zillion times over the last 30+ years, since we started having babies. While David was at the nursing home, a young man that I did NOT issue forth walked in on me. That was odd in that it has never happened before. With any luck, it will never happen again!

I believe that love can be at first sight. That is how it worked for me! The first time I looked across the courtyard and saw David’s eyes looking back across the courtyard, I knew I loved him. I was just too terrified to talk to him. haha

About Suzanne Gunter McClendon

I am a South Carolina native, but have been living on the Texas Gulf Coast for 14 years now. David and I have been married for 34 years. Our children are grown. Some are here at home, others are out in the big world doing their "thing". I enjoy genealogy, reading, writing, photography, digital art, fiber arts, cooking and much, much more.

Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers-except the part of being walked in on in the bathroom. I am never alone in the bathroom, for some reason the cats think I can’t do it alone. That is a sweet story about love at first sight with David. It’s a Wonderful Life is a love story , I never really thought of it that way, but it is. Have a nice weekend! XO

    • Thanks, Ellen. We enjoy answering the fill-ins. We hope that things will get back to normal around here so that we can do our part of responding to everyone, too. Just when we think things are getting back to normal, life happens. Have a blessed Sunday and a great week. 🙂

  3. Romance does have different meanings, absolutely. I don’t read romance novels and am not a fan of romance genre. However, I appreciate romance in its many forms. I like Gone with the Wind for its historical elements of various romance scenarios. And, O Henry’s Gift of the Magi, well, that speaks of love and romance. It sounds like you & David have that kind of love, too. Peace.
