We have been very blessed here in our immediate area. Our neighborhood is, for the most part, drying out. We have water in the yard, but not in the house. However, not all of our town has been this fortunate.
Please view this video on Facebook that shows our downtown, which is about a mile from our house. The closest part of the river to our house is only 1/4 mile from us.

So glad to hear from you & that you continue to be safe. Yesterday, I saw a jpg on Twitter, which was how individuals are helping each other… the jpg showed a very nice living room with about 30″ of water inside and a jet ski heading out the door, apparently rescuing the home owner.

Thank you, Jeanne. I hope that homeowner and the rescuer are safe now. We’ve heard that Harvey has made a 4th landfall, in Cameron, Louisiana. I think it is great how many folks are coming together to help others. I’ve heard bad stories, too, about places with the means to help, turning people away. 😦

I think it is great how everyone is helping each other, too. Instead of rioting, those in the affected areas seem to realize that we’re all Americans. If the fake news channels would only share the truth instead of their skewed stories. It has gotten to the point that we rarely watch the news, which makes us wonder if people have gone insane… We do pay attention to weather.com, but thought that they bungled the prediction for Harvey a bit. Perhaps we weren’t paying close attention, because our area wasn’t in the vicinity, but they didn’t seem to give Texas much of a ‘heads up’ before it hit… IMHO, with a population in the millions, more warning would be wise.

I know that I was totally surprised there was a storm breathing down our neck. I didn’t know about it until sometime on Wednesday and it made landfall Friday night. Not much time to prepare at all, really.
Yes, it would be wonderful if there were no fake news channels, only truthful ones, but we both know that will never happen. 😦

We don’t have the means to leave, no matter what comes our way here. We have no choice but to ride it out. We have faith that Heavenly Father is going to continue to protect our neighborhood. Thank you for the prayers. How are you doing?

Yes, I watched the video. Sad to see so many flooded streets. I’m glad y’all are beginning to dry out! The news coverage of it all has been so awful. I’m sure it will be years before everything gets sorted out and back to normal. …We’re fine up here. The mornings have even been a bit cool feeling…reminds me of fall coming soon! 🙂

Thank you. We’ve seen some pretty awful pictures. Those of Houston are absolutely terrifying. Did you hear about the students getting trapped in the building at the University of Houston? If I understood correctly, it was about 200 Indian students, some very new to this country. The first floor of the building was flooded with neck-deep water. They went to the upper floors, but would have run out of food if help hadn’t come for them. Our Laynie is a student at that school, but thank goodness she was home with us! We would have been having a major freak attack had she been on campus when this mess hit!
Oh yes, and what a wonderful thought that is, isn’t it? I wish we could keep these temperatures all year long. It has felt great out there. 🙂 Maybe we’ll actually get a fall this year. I’m hoping!
I’m glad you’re fine up there and hope that remains the case. We just heard there is another storm, called Irma, that may be headed for the Gulf. It is really still too far out to know for sure where it is going, though.

I’m glad your daughter got back home instead of staying at the school! So scary! I hope another storm is not coming. I haven’t heard the news much, except the hurricane coverage for this one. … that would be just horrible to have the same area hit again.

Thanks, Barbara. We feel better having her here. She’s going to be with us for quite some time as she gets some things in order.
From what I understand about the storm named Irma, it is being a big deal out in the Atlantic right now, but it is still too early to tell where it might visit the US. One thing indicated that Texas would most likely be spared. I hope so. I hope it dies out in the Atlantic and it doesn’t hurt anybody.

Thank you, Kathy. We appreciate the prayers very much. So many folks out there are in desperate situations and definitely need a lot of prayers. Yes, mess would be the perfect word for it, out there and inside our homes. There is no garbage pick up and they’ve told people to not put the garbage out of the houses either. That is going to be one stinky mess inside, especially for those with babies and diapers to deal with.

Thanks, Vanessa! Prayers are definitely needed and appreciated. There is water everywhere, but our neighborhood is still okay. The road right behind our house is flooded and, though they haven’t closed it, they are discouraging travel on it. We haven’t left the house in about 2 days, I think. Though there doesn’t appear to be a curfew, it isn’t safe to leave at night because of the water on the roads and the road conditions are rapidly changing. A road is fine one minute and inundated the next.
Heavenly Father continues to bless this neighborhood with safety. I think that Tampa, Florida loaned us their bubble after all. 🙂

It has caused a fair bit of excitement around here, too. We’ll be okay, though. At the moment, our town is isolated from other areas due to the flooding, and our neighborhood is pretty much an island itself. Water is all around us, including the street right behind our house, but our neighborhood is only wet, not flooded. We have been very blessed and have faith that Heavenly Father will continue to protect us. Have a blessed day!
