Friendly Fill-Ins

This is a fun meme co-hosted by McGuffy’s Reader and 15 and Meowing. Be sure to visit and join in the fun!

Here are the fill-ins:

  1. A prop from a TV show or film I would like to own is _____________________________________.
  2. My oldest friendship is ___________________________.
  3. Whenever I ________________, I always _____________.
  4. The best ___________________ is ___________________.

Here are my responses:

Though I would never fit into it, in either direction, nor would I ever wear it anywhere even if I could, I would love to have that sparkly red dress that Rhett made Scarlet wear to Melanie’s party in Gone With The Wind. I think even more than that one, I would love to have the green velvety ensemble that Mamie made for Scarlet out of Mrs. Ellen’s portieres (which I always heard as “four tiers”).

The oldest friendship that I can recall is with Allison Atkins. We were best friends in elementary school. But, I don’t know what ever became of her.  Then came Mae and Bernice, but I’ve lost touch with them, too. The oldest continual friendship is Holly. We met in either the last year of middle school or the first year of high school, I can’t remember which at this point. We are still in contact with each other. Please pray for Holly. She just lost her mama. Ma Bevens was great and was like a mama to me, too. She was a great listener and she loved me, which is more than I can say about my own.

Whenever I go outside, I always get eaten alive by mosquitoes. They love me and always have.  In addition to having poison oak, I have to deal with mosquito bites. And you know what? The mosquito bites itch way worse!

The best thing in life is free for us to claim – our salvation. It cost Christ His life, but we can freely receive it.

Ma was one in a million. She was a little psychic, too. She always seemed to know what was going on.

Thank you for these great answers. I am glad you are still in touch with your friend and I will pray for her. Those would be nice dresses to own, you could have them on display. I hate mosquito bites too which is why I rarely go outside, well, one of the reasons. Perfect answer for #4. Have a great weekend!

    • Thank you, Ellen, and thanks for co-hosting the fill-ins. Thank you also for your prayers for Holly and her family. Thankfully, her daddy is in great health. The doctor said he could be with us another 30 years, which I think would be great. 🙂
I hope that you’re well protected from the mosquitoes in your house. They tend to follow me inside.
      Have a blessed weekend!

I don’t envy you the mosquito bites. I rarely get bitten, but my daughter is a magnet for them. Wonder why some attract the pests more than others? Have a great weekend…a no bug bites! 🙂

    • I often wonder that. I’m sorry that your daughter is a mosquito buffet, too. We’re beginning to wonder if blood type has anything to do with it. Most of the mosquito magnets we know have O+ blood type. Is that your daughter’s blood type?

I wish it could be a weekend with no bug bites. That ain’t happenin’. haha I hope that you have a great weekend, too. 🙂

I’m not sure what blood type she is. I’m guess she knows it. That’s a good a reason as any, to why some people get more bites than others. 🙂 Well, I’m not outside much at all, so don’t see too many bugs unless they get in the house. Not going out the next few days for sure, as it’s supposed to be over 100 degrees here!

  4. I thought of Gone With the Wind, but couldn’t think of any props I would like. What a dress that red one was! I think it is wonderful that you have a long-standing friendship like that! I had a few from high school that lasted decades, but time and life change circumstances for everyone. we both get chewed up by mosquitoes! I am O+; Bill is AB+. They are bad here, because we live on a chain of lakes between two major rivers. I always feel very guilty about Christ’s gift. I know I do not deserve it. I am forever grateful that He thinks I am. Hugs.

    • I’m sorry that you’re a mosquito magnet, too. So you’re saying Bill also gets eaten by mosquitoes and he is AB+? Interesting. David’s daddy was AB+, too, and was on call for blood donations in emergencies. Several times the Atlanta police picked him up because of his blood type. I’ll leave that story for David to tell.

David and his mama are A+ and mosquitoes don’t seem to bother them.

Mosquitoes are a big problem here, too. We are near 3 rivers and several huge creeks. It is mosquito and snake heaven here.

I feel guilty about Christ dying for me, too. If it were my choice, He wouldn’t have. I often think surely there could have been another way to fix the sins of this world. He defined our worth with His sacrifice. Obviously, He felt like we did deserve it. If He feels we are worthy, who are others to think we are worthless, right? We are loved and seen as worthy by the One Who matters above all.

      Have a blessed weekend. 🙂
