I just wanted to share the wonderful news that we got at David’s doctor appointment this morning. The ulcer on the bottom of his left foot has healed! It has completely closed and the skin is a nice color. The skin is still thin, but the hope is that it will fill in over the next week or so.
David goes next Monday to have this cast removed and to be molded for a CROW boot. The next morning, he will be re-casted. Once the CROW boot has finished being created, he will be wearing that instead of a cast. It was explained to us that this boot is like a removable cast. It will give him the support that he needs while walking and take the pressure off the affected part of his foot while he walks, but he can take it off when he’s sitting around relaxing. He will still be limited in the amount of walking that he can do. If he overdoes it, we’ll be back in the same boat.
Keeping him out of that boat is where you all can help me. Please pray that he will not overdo it and that it does not ever open up again. That’s a pretty tall order with a brittle diabetic, especially one that has been an insulin-dependent diabetic for 40 years now.
Thank you and join me in thanking Heavenly Father for His healing and blessings on my husband and our family!
Please be sure to visit David over at Random Thoughts and Observations.
That’s great news!

Thank you, Emily! 🙂 He’s raring to go, but knows that he has to be good or he’ll be in the same boat again. He doesn’t want that at all. Have a blessed day!

Thank you, Cee! He has promised to be a good boy this time. Even if I have to tie him down, I’m going to make sure he is. 🙂

Thank you, Elsie! We are so grateful to have this foot healed. Diabetes has taken so much from him already. It is the “gift” that keeps on giving or, in his case and many others, taking with its various complications. We will take these victories wherever we can get them. Thank you so much for rejoicing with us and for the blessings and good wishes. May you be blessed with total restoration and great health, too. 🙂

Super news! I have a mental image of David wearing a black feathered boot that flies 🙂
(Of course, now he will need to get a matching cape!)

Thanks! haha That’s funny! Especially since his nickname in junior high and high school was “Bird”. 🙂
