Have you ever owned a rock, pet rock, or gem that is not jewelry?

Yes, I have rocks that are not jewelry-related, that are not pet rocks either. I try to remember to get a rock from any new town that we visit. For now, they are kept in a zippy bag in my “special stuff” box.

What is your greatest strength or weakness?

I am completely insecure, no self-confidence. That would be my greatest weakness. My greatest strength would be that I also know that my worth is not ultimately determined by the faulty humans on this planet, but by the One Who created me.  He declared my value, my worth, when He sent His Son to die for my sins.  Me, the human that other humans see as nothing, as worthless, He determined to be worth His Son’s life, and His Son backed up that thought by being willing to take my faults on Himself and to die for me.  Who would die, or sacrifice their Son, for someone of no value?  I’ve got a God-said on this one.  I need to leave the human-said out of it. Doing that will correct my greatest weakness.

I also get a lot of strength from my relationship with David. Regardless of problems that we may have had along the way, love remains and I can’t imagine making this journey with anyone else.

What makes you feel grounded?

My daddy and mama did on occasion, but I know that isn’t what you meant. 🙂

Knowing that Heavenly Father is there for me, even those times that I feel utterly alone, helps me to feel grounded. I know that no matter what happens, He has my back.  No matter how lonely I feel, I am never truly alone.  He’s already won this one!

Would you rather never be able to eat warm food or never be able to eat cold food?

That is a difficult question!  I think I would be able to give up cold food easier than hot food.  Ice cream and cocktail shrimp and cheesecake are generally cold.  But, a warm cheesecake might be good and I can eat fried shrimp, so that works.  I don’t know how to overcome the ice cream bit, though.  Overall, I prefer my food to be hot.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am very thankful for another stroke-free week.  I am looking forward to another one. I am also looking forward to finding more interesting stories about our long ago family members. I have found some very interesting ones over the last few days thanks to Newspapers.com!

Thanks for this post. I thought I was the only one who liked to take rocks as souvenirs!

    • You’re very welcome. 🙂

I think that rocks make perfect souvenirs. They are a natural part of the place we’re visiting (ideally) and they don’t break like the little glass ornaments. AND, if it gets lost, it isn’t something that we’ve spent a ton of money to buy. My biggest problem is remembering to tag them before we leave the place. If I don’t, and we’ve gone to several towns that day, I forget where I got which rock. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Have a great day!

Good thing the rocks you collect aren’t like the ones the wife collected in the long long trailer.

As far as grounding in the way you mentioned it is concerned, in your teen years you should have been made out of copper.

    • Thanks. 🙂 Yes, more often than not it was my mama. I only remember my daddy grounding me once and considering the time frame that he grew up, I deserved it for what I did.

I was on the phone discussing pregnancy with David and we weren’t married. I wasn’t pregnant, mind you, but someone that I knew was. But, the way that Daddy grew up, girls didn’t talk to boys about things like that. Daddy couldn’t even bring himself to use the word “pregnant”. When we lost Dorian, (20 weeks into our pregnancy she was stillborn), Daddy said to David, “I didn’t even know that she was that way.” Meaning that he didn’t even know that I was pregnant. So, when I was on the phone with David talking about this girl being pregnant and then followed that up by eating grits with Oreos crumbled in them, well, that was more than he could take. I got grounded from talking to David on the phone for two weeks. Having been a teenage girl yourself, I’m sure you know how that went. I used the phone at my best friend’s house. 🙂

      Have a great week!

I get it. I don’t think I was ever grounded. Really didn’t even know what that meant back then. … So sorry for the loss of your precious child. xo

    • Thank you. Dorian would have been 23 this year. It was a very difficult year. I had lost my grandma just 3 months before. I didn’t have the one person that I knew always loved me, no matter what, to help me through it. But, I realized that she went on to Heaven to be there for our Dorian. I can’t have either of them here, but they have each other there, and I will be with them again some day. Thank you again.
