Dandelions make me very happy. They are pretty little flowers. I would love a yard full of them. However, they will not grow in our yard. Most of the other yards in the neighborhood get them, but not this one. Going by other folks’ attitudes about dandelions, I should be happy about the lack of them in our yard. I would be thrilled to have them. Yes, I’m weird!

I loved dandelions when I was a kid. They don’t grow in our yard either. Did I ever ask in what part of SC you lived? I grew up in the upstate but have been in the Charleston area for 30 years. I combined my happiness posts for the weekend. It’s great to be looking for happy every day. Keeps me from complaining about the heat and humidity. Haha!

I wonder why they don’t grow in your yard or mine, but will grow in everyone else’s?
I don’t remember if you’ve ever asked or not, but we lived in Anderson County, South Carolina and, for a few months, in Greenwood County in the city of Greenwood. In Anderson County, we lived in the city of Anderson, as well as in the towns of Starr and Iva. I grew up in Starr and David grew up in Iva. I was born in Anderson. David was born in Atlanta, GA. Where in the upstate did you grow up?
Charleston has to be one of the prettiest cities that I’ve ever seen. I love the architecture, especially those old houses near the Battery. Just beautiful!

I love those… you would love to see the wildflowers that spout up on the side of the highway, smiles.

Oh yes, I sure would! There are awesome displays of wildflowers here in Texas in the springtime, along the side of the roads, in fields, just everywhere. The flowers in my McClendon Villa header are called Queen Anne’s Lace and there were on a roadside one day while we were out looking for things for me to photograph. The bluebonnets are the big deal here in the spring. What wildflowers grow up your way? Have a beautiful day!

I haven’t a clue on what they are…all I know is they are colorful…giggling. My hubby said their weeds…whatever, that man is incapable of seeing beauty (giggling–just teasing–). Have a beautiful day.

Weeds are flowers, too. 🙂 They are confident in who they are and don’t have to put on airs like the fancy ones.

I like dandelions also but only until they go to the white ghost. my dad once made dandelion wine and it wasn’t good, nor do I like the leaves.
As a young girl, my dad paid my sister and I one cent for every dandelion we dug out of the yard. He thought we would dig out a few and be done but we each made several dollars that day. He was shocked.

I love the “blow flower” stage, which must be what you called “the white ghost”. Yours is a cooler name for it. 🙂
I’ve never eaten nor drunk anything made from dandelions that I know of.
I’ll bet he was shocked! I would have kept pulling, too, if I were being paid for it. Now, I would be happy just to see them out there.

I agree with you, dandelions are lovely, little bursts of sunshine, and usually the first flowers we picked to bring our mothers! I’m sure your neighbors would gladly donate theirs to you, but to me they are just misunderstood wildflowers and I love them every one! 🙂

Misunderstood wildflowers – I like that phrase. 🙂 I think it is kind of funny that they will grow in yards where they are unwanted, but not in yards that want them. I seem to remember bringing them to my mama, too. 🙂 Have a beautiful day.
