This is the KCS rail bridge over the Colorado River in Wharton, Texas.  This photo was taken from the old car bridge on Business 59.

This river has brought excitement to our town on at least three occasions in the last 15 months.  There was significant flooding in our town in May 2015, April 2016, and again in May 2016.

    • When we first moved here, back in 2004, there was a huge flood the week of Thanksgiving. Thankfully, though our side of town gets wet and water standing in the yard, we don’t get it nearly as bad as the west side of town. They are forever having to rescue those people by boat. Still, our yard was safe and we’re only 1/4 mile from the river, which is closer than some of those that got totally swamped. I am pretty sure that I made a post on PS Annie! about this years flooding. I will look for the link and put it here for you when I find it.
